Short story: 425 zone four bft 2 guys, birds get up- you go, fast small foam, colt sniper 80g chove color. Water 66-66.8 clean. Started at 302, lots of bait no tuna. Came up on two marlin chasing bait.
Been needing a setup for 40-80lb bft, the reel I'm going to get is the penn torque 25 or 30 and I was looking at the phenix axis HAX - 720H but I'm not sure if that's a heavy enough rod for what I'm trying to use it for. The line I'm looking to put on the reel is 65 max Quattro. Penn 25n star drag with that rod killed 60-80lb yellow fin.
What are you gonna use it for. I have both a 20 and a 25 to me the talica is one of the lightest and smoothest out there. I usually fish spectra to a short served floro leader on my 20 I fish 60 or 80 for lighter flat falls or sinker rig maybe even fly lined bait. BFT were in a different school a few miles north of the albacore. I have seen the jumbos before in the green water, but this is the first time I have ever seen a bunch of schoolie BFT jumping. All the fish we caught were albacore.
